A New Kind of Doctor's Report

Gus and I took Will to his first pediatrician appointment today. No jaundice, very little loss of birth weight. Dr. Barfield said Will looked great. We're very pleased, obviously.

At this point, we know that he's going to be a good eater. But, considering his parents love for food, that's not a big shock. We're working to get him on a better sleeping schedule...sleeping at night instead of all day long.

Its just about time for Will to eat, so that will be all for now. Thanks for all your well wishes! We'll post new pictures soon.

He's Here!

Sorry for the delay in posts, but having a baby keeps you busy. I'm going to have Gus post some pictures of our beautiful baby in a separate post. But, I wanted everyone to know that all is well, and we're both feeling good.

Will was born at 6:04 PM, weighing in at 7lbs 15 oz, measuring 21.5 inches, with a full head of dark hair. We're working eating, but right now he is much more interested in cuddling and sleeping.

There are no words to describe how good Gus is with him. He was made to be a dad, but, of course I already knew that.

Will is gorgeous, and we're enjoying him so much already. We feel so blessed.

Quick update

Em is on the epideral now and the doctors are guestimating Will should
arrive 7ish tonight. Time to get some rest...

We are a go.....

So we checked in as scheduled at 9pm to Northside Hospital. Funny
enough it appears Em's water broke on it's own an hour earlier. We
are a punctual family ; )

Plan right now is for Em to get some sleep and see if nature kicks in
overnight. Otherwise they will induce starting at 6am.

Waiting, Waiting

We're still waiting. Its amazing all the things you wait for. Now that we know Will's arrival timeline...at least to a certain degree, we're waiting for Northside to call and let us know when we can check in and get that timeline started.

I've been at home all week, thanks to my boss. Gus is off today, so we're just waiting...waiting. Trying to rest. We've played Rock Band. Gus has worked out and put together the little swing we got. We're trying to decide what to have for lunch, since I can't eat again after 4 pm. We know home is more comfortable, but the waiting is getting old!

We're excited to know that before the weekend is over, we'll be meeting our little man. Gus will be posting from here on out, as we know more.

Thats What She Said

Fact: Our baby will be delivered by Michael Scott.

Unless he decides to come before then, Will will join us this weekend. Since my doctor has decided the week of my due date and the week after were a great time for her to go on vacation...you can imagine our joy at this news...we'll see the doctor on call, Dr. Michael Scott. We've never seen him, but if nothing else, it'll always be a funny story for us as Office fans. How many people can say that?

Assisting Dr. Scott will be Mia, the nurse midwife we've seen several times. Since she'll do most of the work anyway, we are glad to have her helping us out. We have a good rapport with her. We'll keep you posted on when we can check into the hospital. If possible, I'd still like to get to the hospital on our own before we're induced, but if not, we'll be thrilled to meet Will whenever he gets here.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the delivery goes much better than when Michael delivered Dwight's watermelon baby. =)

As we wait, I thought this would be a good opportunity to take what
could be the last profile pic of the pregnancy. And now back to the
waiting...

He's Comfy, I Guess

It appears that Will is good and comfortable where he is, though I'm not sure how given his size. Today was our 38 week checkup, and thankfully, Will is good and healthy. They've decided to stop estimating his weight because its getting too hard to tell for sure. We'll have another check up Thursday and then again on Tuesday. If we make it to Tuesday, our doctor will schedule an induction before Will is too big.

Keep checking the blog for updates. Gus will also post from the hospital once we finally make it there.

37 and counting...

Another good check up today. Will's got a great, healthy heart beat. It doesn't appear that either of us gained weight last week. Everything looked about the same as it did last week. Our doctor had us schedule 2 more weekly appointments, but she assured us we would not make it to our due date because "then we run the risk of the passenger being too big for the passageway."

I've had quite a few contractions today, but they aren't coming at regular intervals. We'll keep you posted.

Explaining the Test...

Gus got a new iphone this week, and he has figured out how to post to the blog from it. That way, Gus can post photos and updates to the blog from anywhere, without a computer. He'll keep you all updated from the hospital as best at possible.

We'll see our doctor in the morning. We'll update everyone on what she says tomorrow.

This is only a test

36.5 weeks pregnant and 4 years married

Today is our 4th wedding anniversary. We took the day off to celebrate and be together. We slept in, saw a movie and enjoyed our traditional steak dinner at Morton's. Below is a picture of the baby belly at 36.5 weeks. We think he is lower. I definitely feel better today than I have in about 3 months, which has been nice. The other picture is of us at Morton's. We really enjoyed our day together.

The room is finally done! Gus really did a fabulous job, and I'm so glad I have such a wonderful husband. Check out the pictures below.

36 weeks

People keep asking how long we have to go. I have no idea how I'm supposed to know, but it seems like forever or that it will be here in an instant. I alternate between them.

Anyway, the report from the doctor's office was good. Healthy, good heart rate. I have started to dilate slighty. And, another, "Wow, that's a big baby!" Gus asked if they could give us a better estimate than "big." Most babies at this point are supposed to be getting close to 6 lbs, and they estimate Will to be about 7 lbs.
