Meeting the Family

Well, we're almost through Day 1 of the marathon family trip. Our drive to Daphne, which usually takes 5 hours, took 8 yesterday...and that had nothing to do with traffic. Will was a trooper, though, and he wasn't really fussy until the last 45 minutes or so. But, I can't blame him. At that point, he'd been strapped into a car seat, staring at the gray backseat for 7 hours. I'd be upset too.

We spent this afternoon with the whole Ferrill family. Thanks to my Uncle Mike and Aunt Dana for getting everyone together at once. It was a great time and a really easy way to introduce Will to the family.

We'll post more as we can. The Rios family is excited to welcome Will's new best friends, Charlie Rigas and Lexi and Will Hanson, born on Thursday and Friday of this week respectively.

Chunky Monkey

Will had his two month check up today. Our "little man" is up to 12 lbs...if you are keeping track that is 3 lbs in a month. He's eating us out of house and home already. He's gone from the 25th percentile in height, weight and head circumfrence to between 50 and 75 in each category. Needless to say, he's grown quite a bit. And, congrats to Daddy who won the "how much do you think he weighs now" bet with 12 lbs right on the money.

Will had his first set of vaccinations today, and I think its hurting Gus and me just as much as it hurts Will. Hopefully, tomorrow we'll all be feeling better for the 2 month birthday. I'll be sure to post some pictures.

I visited Carters for the first time over the weekend. Dangerous. Boys are fun to dress too!

We're getting ready to head to the Eastern Shore for the first time since Will was born. We're looking forward to introducing him to Pop, Ellen and all our friends!

A Wonderful Mothers Day and other notes

Its been a while since my last post. Will has been so much fun and interactive during the day that I don't always get to the computer. When Gus gets home, its so nice to spend time as a family that I forget all about the computer. However, I've been dying to post, so I'm taking some time to do that today.

First, I want to say how wonderful my first Mothers Day was. Gus hates for me to brag about him, but I'm claiming the right as part of my Mothers Day gift. Anyway, Gus got Will a special outfit that said "Mommy's First Mate."

He made blueberry pancakes and bacon for breakfast, and tostones and garlic butter for lunch. Gus and Will spent all of Saturday shopping for me and preparing to make a wonderful dinner for me. You can see a photo of the INCREDIBLE black pepper crusted filet mignon with goat cheese and roasted red pepper and ancho chile salsa that Gus made. They showered with me gifts and love. Gus even helped Will write a card to me! It was such an amazing day, and I am so lucky to have such a wonderful husband and son!

On to things about Will...We've been getting out a little bit each week. We met Candy for a great lunch and Anna and Kyle for dinner. We've been shopping. Will is so great, just observing things around him.

Will is starting to smile and laugh with us more and more. I'm posting a picture of a half smile from El Burrito Guapo.

Will just loves his stroller, so we're heading out for a walk soon. I'll try to post more soon!

Out and About

On Saturday, we took Will on his first all-day outing. Will wore our favorite outfit, cargo pants, a hoodie and sunglasses, just like Daddy always wears. We went to the North Georgia Outlets with our friends Tim and Alesha, who are extremely patient!

Will was amazing! He either slept or quietly observed his surroundings. We enjoyed taking him out, and we're looking forward to taking him all over the place. We can't wait for his first trip to Auburn!

Since my last big post, Will has started smiling at us. He had been smiling in his sleep, but now he smiles at us when we are playing. We also play a game where we stick out our tongues, and he sticks his out too.

He has slept through his 3 am feeding on several occasions, but its not a nightly guarantee yet. In fact, the night after sleeping for 6 straight hours, Will and I were on the couch at 4 am. I looked at my wide awake child and said, "Will, its sleepy nighty time." And, I swear to you, he looked at me and laughed. It was his first laugh, and such a perfect moment!

I can't say enough how much we are enjoying being parents!
