Chucks and Fireworks

Here's hoping everyone had a good 4th of July. We really enjoyed ourselves, and we think Will did, too. The weekend started out with a visit from our good friend, Ted. He brought Will his first pair of Converse sneakers, or Chucks. They are adorable, and we're excited for Will to grow into them.

We debated on how Will would do with fireworks, and we decided to give it a try. He LOVED them. He sat on Gus's shoulders, and oohed and ahhed and giggled at the fireworks in the sky. The noise didn't bother him at all, and he loved the pretty colors.

We're working on rolling over from back to tummy and tummy to back. He's trying really hard to get moving once he is on his tummy. His personality is becoming more and more evident. He's such a happy boy, and we can tell he's going to be a charmer.

The weekend went by way too fast!

"That Boy is Snuggly"

So, so true. Ms. Jemella and Ms. Kizzie love to snuggle with Will when he is at school. He's been doing well, and picking him up in the afternoon is definitely the best part of the day. I'm still trying to get used to not being with my little goober all day long. I'm definitely looking forward to our 3 day weekend.

Will is starting to skip a feeding at night pretty consistently now. Most of the time, he eats at 9 pm and sleeps until 3 am, but that time can vary. Last night, he ate at 8:30 and 1, but not again until 5:45. Either way, its nice to sleep longer than 2 hours at a time. Gus and I take turns getting ready in the morning, and its nice to have some time to snuggle and play a little bit with Will early in the morning.

Will got his first cold, which Mommy and Daddy picked up, too. But, he's been a real trooper, with the exception of having his nose sucked out. He hates that.

Its so much fun watching him grow and develop into a little person. You'll see in the pictures below that he's really starting to like tummy time. He loves to chew on his hands, and he is getting super drooly. He sits in between us on the couch in his bumbo, chewing on his hands while we eat.

We're enjoying reading our books, like Where the Wild Things Are. His favorite color right now is green. He's totally fascinated by anything green, and he likes to watch golf and tennis because of it. We can't wait to show him the lush green grass in Jordan Hare.

From the Bat Cave to the Sunshine House

Well, believe it or not, Will is going to be 12 weeks on Friday, which means I have to head back to work on Monday. There are no words to describe how quickly the time has gone by for me. I'm not looking forward to it, but I know its the best thing for the three of us in the long run.

In the past few weeks, Will has graduated to sitting up in his Bumbo. Now, he tries to sit up out of his car seat and pretty much any time you are holding him. Holding onto our hands, he pulls himself up from laying on his back to a standing position. He is also starting to roll over from his back to his tummy, and he's finally getting the point of tummy time, instead of just screaming. He's been sleeping in his own room since we got back from the Eastern Shore and he loves it. He really loves to look at himself in the mirror and according to our scale at home, he's up to 15 lbs!

Here are a couple of pictures from today. Daddy came home for lunch and some play time.

Norah Jones, Baby Whisperer (And New Pictures)

A couple of years ago, we visited our friends Ben and Sarah when their first child, Annie, was about 5 months old. Will shows some similarities to Baby Annie--both very laid back babies. When Will fusses, there is a good reason, and like Annie, he likes two things very much--1) to be where the action is and 2) the car ride, that is, as long as the car is moving.

When we were riding around with Ben, Sarah and Annie 2 years ago, Annie started to get fussy at red lights. Gus suggested playing Norah Jones, and Annie was immediately quiet again. With this in mind, Gus made a MP3 cd of all Norah Jones for our car before Will was born. And, it works like a charm. Will loves her voice, and he doesn't seem to mind too much when I sing along. Norah may like being known as a Grammy award winner, but to me, she is the baby whisperer.

Below are a few pictures our friend Meg took when we were in Fairhope a few weeks ago. I think they are just fabulous. She is an amazing photographer.

Back Home

We're back in Atlanta after another 8 hour drive. Will was a big hit with all our family and friends. I wanted to post a little bit more about our trip during the course of it, but unfortunately, my mom's DSL went out and the new modem didn't arrive until Friday afternoon. Luckily, Gus was able to help her get it set up in no time.

On Thursday, Gus and I had our first date since Will's birth. My mom and Lydia watched Will while we went out with with friends. We enjoyed our dinner at Moe's BBQ so much, we went back with my mom and Ellen for lunch the next day. If you go, buy a t-shirt...Andy designed them! Before heading out of town, we also got a chance to see another friend's band, Roman Street.

Will had been trying to sit up all week, so we tried out the Bumbo when we got back yesterday. Its a hit! He loves his Bumbo time and sits on the couch with us like its his own little recliner.

Water Baby

Yesterday was a big day for Will. In the morning, we had a dedication service for him. We can't thank the Ingrams enough for all their love and support. We are truly blessed to have them in our lives.

After lunch, Will got to try out the pool for the first time. He really loves bath time, so we figured the pool would be a natural transition. He was so comfortable that he fell asleep in the water and was out for the duration. I think you'll enjoy these pre and post pool pictures.

Later in the evening, "Uncle" Charlie hosted a BBQ at his house. Will was a lady charmer, and he had a fabulous time with his "aunts" Amy and Elizabeth. We really enjoyed hanging out with our friends. We don't get to see them enough. And, we're both still dreaming of the delicious Sausage Boat and burgers!
