5 month update

We're happy to celebrate Will's 5 month birthday. He is growing like a weed, and his personality is just shining through more and more each day. He is such a beautiful, happy baby. We are so lucky!

We made it through the two weeks of colds and fevers, and we're finally back to a good routine.

Daddy can make Will laugh so easily. He can even say random words that make Will laugh.He's started reaching out for us to pick him up, and the other night during dinner, he did a series of fake coughs to get our attention. He is starting to get really good at picking things up and last night he started moving things from one hand to the other. According to the books, that's a big deal. He tries to help us feed him cereal, which is adorable.

We should be getting our computer back soon, so more to come...

Grooowth Spuuurt!!

We were back to the doctor for a lingering fever this week. We got the all clear, just another cold. We know thats the way it goes with daycare. But, Will was weighed and measured again. In a weeks time, he's now up to 17 lbs 4 oz and 25.25 inches. Thats what we like to call a growth spurt!

The blog may be slow for a while, as our laptop bit the dust earlier this week. I'll try to post from the iPhone when I can.

Before and After

Sorry for the delay in posting. We've been busy, busy, and our computer has been crawling at a snail's pace. Thankfully, Gus set it straight tonight, computer genius that he is.

Anyway, Will has been doing excellently. He's been have so much fun in his new play center...pictures to come (thank you, Aunt Valerie!). He's talking tons. He's starting to put together sounds, so we get things that sound like one day they could be words. He is also starting to repeat sounds that really ARE words. He's repeating "hi," "bye," and I swear to you he said his name.

He had a pretty nasty cold this week, so we got him checked out at the doctors office. He's doing much better after a day home from school, some infant Tylenol and a lot of sleep. But, we did get to weigh in again, and he's tipping the scales at 16 lbs, 14 oz these days. That's 12 oz in the last 3 weeks.

My favorite thing to share, though, is that we've started Will on some rice cereal. The first time, he wasn't to sure what to do, but now, he opens big and wide for the spoon and eats every last morsel. He really loves it. Check out the before and after pictures below.

4 Month Report

We got a great report from the pediatrician earlier this week. Our chunky monkey is weighing in at 16 lbs 2 oz, which is actually far less than what I really think he weighs. Granted he tips the scales at our house in his diaper and clothes, and they weigh him au natural at the doctor, but I still think their scale is off. Either way, thats the 75th percentile. He is up to 24.5 inches (50th percentile) and his head is also measuring 75th percentile.

He's sleeping for about 7-8 hours most nights now. A couple of times a week, he'll wake up for an extra feeding, but 4-5 nights a week, he sleeps straight through til we wake him up in the morning.

He's really trying to get around, too. We can't leave him in the Bumbo anymore because he tries to stand up with it still attached to his butt. He scoots around on the floor, too. So, Daddy put together his standing play center (I don't know what you really call those things) and he loves it!

We're enjoying bath time still, and now he's starting to splash and play. He wants to help feed himself, no matter who is feeding him, or by what method he is receiving the milk. So, he holds on tight. The picture below shows Will holding his bottle. We'll start trying some rice cereal here in the next few days.

He has really started giggling, and that is the most incredible thing to experience. Some days he is ticklish, some days not. But, regardless, Daddy has figured out a way to get him giggling every day.

Gram is in town this weekend, and Gus and I are going on two dates. We're excited about that.

Will is becoming such a little person, and we're enjoying every second of it!!

On the Move

Will is getting closer and closer to being mobile. Its amazing how much he has grown in the last couple of weeks. One day last week, his teachers told me that they watched him scoot on his tummy on the Boppy from one end of the room to the other.

Just yesterday, he started sitting up by himself for 10 - 20 seconds at a time. He still gets tired and usually starts leaning over after that, but he is definitely sitting up on his own. He is rolling from his belly to his back and his back to his belly pretty well, but he hasn't mastered doing it all together.

He's gotten really good at using his hands to take his pacifier out of his mouth, and he tries really hard to put it back in. Usually, though, he gets the opposite side in his mouth. He's enjoying playing with toys now, or at least trying to put them in his mouth. His favorites right now are Igor, the blue elephant and Cocker Spaniel, the lion. As you can see, we're having fun naming the toys.

He's getting so big, and we'll have his 4 month check up next week. We won't be surprised if he is pushing 18lbs.
