Not much to report from the doctor's office today. Will is still a big boy with a good, healthy heart rate. They'll start checking to see how things are progressing next week.

34 weeks
We are definitely in the home stretch now. We'll be 35 weeks on Sunday, and we'll have a weekly check up on Monday. I'll post any updates we get.
We've been working on Will's room a good bit. Gus has been so great in putting things together. We've got new curtains, a new lamp, a new rug, etc. Gus is going to install a ceiling fan this weekend, and then we'll be done. I'll post pictures when we're done.
For now, here is a look at the belly at 34 weeks. No doubt that he's a big boy!

Northside Trial Run
So, things have defininitely been interesting this week. Tuesday night, I wasn't feeling all that well, but I knew I wasn't having contractions. I went to bed, hoping to feel better in the morning. And, I did. For about an hour. But about 7:30 Wednesday morning, I felt like I got hit by a bus. Literally. I called the doctor and tried going to work but couldn't make it out of the neighborhood.
To make a long story short, sweet Gus made a mad dash to the hospital during morning rush hour. You haven't lived until you have puked on the side of 285.
Once we got to Northside, the nurses in Maternity Urgent Care took care of me until the doctor on call arrived. They determined I had a mixture of kidney stones and a kidney infection. Fun times. We were moved to another room in the maternity ward where we stayed until Friday morning.
We met a lot of wonderful nurses and several of the other doctors in my practice. I know we'll be well taken care of when Will decides to come. Will was a total rockstar through the whole thing. He's a strong and happy boy!
I've heard lots of people say that the pain of a kidney stone is worse than the pain of labor. Since I had at least two stones, check back in a few weeks, and I will be able to tell you for sure.
We're looking forward to a few more weeks before Will arrives, and here's to hoping they are slow, relaxing and uneventful.

32 week check up
We're just back from a 32 week check up. Everything looks great and just the way it should. All great news, which we're happy to have right now. We even got to watch him hicupping on the screen. I could feel it and watch it at the same time. It was very cool.
All along, Will has been measuring a bit bigger. So, after this appointment, everyone can start placing bets on how big our Will is going to be. According to all the books, he should weigh about 3.75 lbs right now. He's already 4.5 lbs.
We'll start going for weekly appointments pretty soon. We'll keep you updated. Enjoy the latest pictures.

But I LOVE Meat...
We had our 29 week checkup today. Will's heartrate and measurements are good. But, even though I've never turned down beef in my life, I'm slightly anemic. So, I'll be taking some iron supplements for a while. Unfortunately, I can't take the iron pills with milk, which I drink all the time now, so I'll have to figure out how to time things.
Over the weekend, Gus and I went to our doctor's birth class. Thankfully, it was very "whats going to happen" as opposed to "this is the only way you should do things"--so, very low key. I like to hear people say "we want you to be as comfortable as possible."
We finished up the weekend with a tour of the hospital. Apparently, more babies are born at this hospital than any other hospital in the country. So, I think they have a handle on things. We got to see the labor and delivery suite and the recovery room. Gus will even have a place to sleep in the room with me. We were impressed with the set up and how friendly everyone was.
That's it for now. We'll go back on January 26 for another ultrasound. They'll check Will's weight and see how he is positioned. We'll keep you updated!
